Eshav Books Update
Shalom Everyone,
Thank you for partnering with Eshav Books in our undertaking to celebrate the goodness and reliability of God’s word by drawing the meaning and significance of a Biblical text from the text itself - rather than reading a meaning into it, i.e., “to rightly divide (or handle) the word of truth” (2Tim 2:15).
At this time of year we light the Chanukah menorah and place it in a window so that everyone can see it. We celebrate the way God used Mattathias and his sons to break the bonds of religious persecution and preserve His people Israel in order to ensure the coming of the Messiah. We celebrate for eight days because of the miracle of the oil. When the “Maccabees” were victorious, they cleansed the Temple and rededicated it to the LORD, but they could only find enough olive oil to keep the Menorah ablaze for one day. Miraculously, it burned for eight days until fresh olive oil could be produced to keep it burning indefinitely.
However, we celebrate another miracle too – the way God uses people who have a heart to serve Him to overcome great odds in order to achieve His purpose. Your contribution to Eshav Books can be used in the same way. You can help us overcome bigotry and ignorance, help us restore the love that people have for God’s Word and overcome the barriers that divide Believers in the Body of Messiah.
We will soon introduce two new Seminars: “Creation – Reconciling Genesis and the ‘Big Bang’” scheduled for January 2-3 in Sonora, CA and “The Last Days – Distinguishing Between Prophecy and Headlines” (date to be determined). We will also be doing the “Parables” Seminar in Guatemala City February 26-27, “The Essentials” and “Covenant” Seminars in San Salvador February 15-24, and teaching at other congregations and home-groups during our visit to San Salvador as well.
Lord willing, this year we will also be teaching in several other cities across the United States and elsewhere – the LORD is opening many “doors."
I invite you to help us to continue to touch the lives of many people this year with your prayers and financial gifts. You can make a contribution on our website – www.eshavbooks.org or send it to us directly @ 2211 Star Pine Way, Tustin, CA 92782. Please prayerfully consider Eshav Books in your year-end giving plans.
Thank you for your love, your prayers and your gifts ...
May the LORD be with you.
Bob

Ministry Report
Shalom Everyone, Just a quick note to let you know that our recent trip to Israel (October 14-25th) was a wonderful blessing. The tour was organized by Skip Moen, PhD and people from all over the U.S. participated. It was great meeting everyone and spending time together with them in Israel. Also, for those of you who would like to "hear" the teaching and "see" the various places we visited, the tour was video-taped - DVD's will be available as the post-production process is completed.
Also, I wanted to let you know that I will be teaching this Shabbat (10/31/09) at Beit Simcha v'Tikvah Messianic Congregation in Rancho Cucamonga. The service begins at 10:30AM - but you can join us for the liturgical component of the service at 9:30AM. I will also be teaching "The Captive Woman" Seminar there on Nov 14-15 from 10:30AM-4:30PM. It is our newest and perhaps one of our most important Seminars to date. It is about understanding what the Bible really says about women.
I hope that you can join us! The congregation meets at 7192 Jasper St., Rancho Cucamonga, CA 91701. A map is available at their congregational website: bsvtcalifornia.com
Look forward to seeing you! And, as always, we very much appreciate your prayer and financial support. Contributions can be made at www.eshavbooks.org. Be well. May the Lord bless you richly. Bob |

"The Basics" - Name Changed to "The Essentials"
The name of "The Basics" Seminar has been changed to "The Essentials" Seminar. The reason that we needed to make this change is because people think that the information is "basic" - i.e., something with which they are already familiar. But, of course, it is about the concepts which are essential to a proper understanding of the Bible - something that is not "basic" at all - and concepts with which most believers are not familiar. |

Shalom Everyone, Just a quick note to let you know that the trip to Moldova and the trip immediately after it to Northern California were both wonderful blessings. The Lord is doing wonderful things in both places. Lord willing I will have the opportunity to return to Moldova twice during the next academic year.
Also, even though we were just in Sonora recently, we are going again - this time for a much shorter visit. We will be there for two consecutive Shabbats, July 4rd and 11th - returning late on July 12th. Part of the purpose of this trip is to spend more time with the community there and to work a little more with those who have a heart for the Torah Service. We will also be there for a lecture on July 9th entitled; "Messianic Luminaries: Stories & Teachings From The Age of Enlightenment" by Boaz Michael. If you live in the area and would like to attend a Service or the lecture, please get in touch with me. As always, we very much appreciate your prayer and financial support. Shalom uv'rachot (Peace and Blessings). Bob |

2 Seminars in January 2009 2 Weeks in a Row - In Sonora, California.
Just a quick note to let you know that we will be in Sonora, CA in just a couple of weeks to spend time with the Messianic Fellowship there and give two Seminars.
The first, on the Book of Acts (from a Jewish perspective). January 24-25.
The second one is NEW - over a year in the making. It is called "The Captive Woman: Understanding What the Bible Says About Women." Jan31-Feb1: I am very excited about the subject of this Seminar - and I'm sure that you will be both encouraged and challenged by it's content.
If it is at all possible, please plan to attend both Seminars - even if you have already attended the Seminar on the Book of Acts. Because, as you know, it is simply not possible to absorb all of the information that we deal with in one "sitting."
e-mail for more information.
I also want to thank all of you who have supported Eshav Books over the past year with your prayer and financial support. It is still possible to contribute to Eshav Books before the end of the year. Eshav Books is a non-profit corporation recognized by the State and Federal governments for tax-exempt contributions. Please go to www.eshavbooks.org and contribute on-line. And, if you own a business, we can say "Thank-you!" by adding a link to your web-site on the "Resources/Links" page of our web-site. Just send me your URL address.
Finally, we are registered as a non-profit corporation with GoodShop.com (www.goodshop.com) and Ralph's/Food-For-Less (www.ralphs.com). So, if you do any on-line shopping through either of these portals and select Eshav Books as the recipient, we will get a percentage of the money you spend as a contribution. GoodShop has hundreds of vendors, including Amazon, Half.Com, Target, Banana Republic, Bloomingdales, Drugstore, Sak’s 5th Ave , Staples, Office Depot and many, many more. Your cost is the same either way. So please think of us and the ministry the next time that you shop on-line.
We look forward to seeing as many of you as possible in Northern California at the end of January and Lord willing, we will be sharing "The Captive Woman" Seminar in El Salvador and Honduras in the coming months.
May the Lord be with you and keep you! Shalom uv'rachot (Peace and Blessings). Bob |
