Lesson: Don't be afraid of anything. Because G-d is with us. Realize that He is good, He loves us, and his intensions towards us are good. Because of this, we can completely trust him; therefore we can obey him even when we are afraid or anxious that we will not be provided for. Outline: First there is a census of the army and the organization of how the the tribes were to camp around the Tabernacle. Then it is a record of the journey from Mount Sinai to the borders of Canaan (the Promised Land) that took 40 years. It is divided into 3 sections: Preparation for the journey; Wilderness wanderings; and the journey to Canaan. Some Events: Grumbling about the manna, Miriam amd Aaron rebell against Moses, the spies and Israel's rebellion, the rebellion of Korach, Aaron's staff, Moses strikes the rock, the bronze serpent and Balaam blesses Israel instead of cursing them.

More About Numbers: fourth book of the Bible and the fourth book of the Torah (5 Books of Moses). Author: Moses. Title:In Hebrew it is transliterated into English as Bamidbar which means "In the desert"). The name comes from the fact that the men, able to serve in the army, were numbered in Chapter 1 and 26. There are many other aspects covered in this book. Main characters are Moses, Aaron, Miriam, Joshua, Caleb, and the Priests. Location: the wilderness, sometimes referred to as the desert. Themes: Service and obedience are central themes. Because of their disbelief, they sin, and are punished. The people are being taught not to doubt, but to have the fear of the LORD and to trust and obey Him. They rebelled against God and Moses many times. God's anger at them, to the point of almost destroying them, shows how seriously He takes disobedience and our lack of trust in him. Because he is a loving father, he must discipline them. It may seem harsh, but it is necessary for survival. In spite of their sins, he is patient with them. He provided for them and protected them from their enemies.
